last night on BBC 2 an experiment on 3 groups of people either taking supermarket probiotic drinks, kefir or just eating prebiotic foods and looking at their benefits on the good gut bacteria levels over a 4 week period. Kefir came out to be the winner for having the biggest influence on the variety of good gut flora found after 4 weeks. As we discussed last week at the Motherhood Project Event, fermented foods like kefir are a great way to support the good bacteria in your gut but also eating other plant based prebiotic foods is really important.
